Hey, we're taking a short break. We will be back soon!

Document it all

Document it all

Two years ago today we lost Danny. You all know the story, there’s no need to tell it again.

Instead, I’d like to talk to you about documenting your life.

Chris makes fun of me for how many photos I take. On our last vacation he started taking photos of me taking photos. Maybe I do go overboard, and many people say that my generation and younger spend too much time documenting instead of living.

Do I think that’s true? Maybe. Maybe not.

What I will tell you though, is that when you lose someone, all you have is the documentation. When you want to feel connected to them and they’re gone, those photos and videos are your savior. Their letters and cards, seeing their handwriting, hearing their laugh on an audio clip, that’s all you have left.

Memories fade. We think we will remember forever, but we won’t.

Mothers who hate being in front of the camera, I implore you, let your photo be taken. Your kids will cherish those snapshots someday.

Take all the pictures. Record your people laughing so hard they can’t breathe. Document everything you can. One day, it may be all you have left and you’ll be so grateful to have tangible memories.

Please, please document your life. Even when your husband documents you documenting.
